MoDOT

NORTHWEST MISSOURI, Mo. (KQTV) -- The Missouri Department of Transportation has released its planned highway maintenance and construction schedule for Northwest Missouri for the week of October 19–25, with resurfacing, bridge work, and intersection improvements affecting several counties.

Drivers in Atchison County will see continued resurfacing on U.S. Route 46 from U.S. 59 to the Nodaway River and on U.S. Route 136 from I-29 to U.S. 71, both narrowed to one lane with 11-foot width restrictions through October. Route N will be affected by slide repair at the Route 46 intersection Oct. 19–23.

In Buchanan County, northbound U.S. 59/Route 752/Route U remains closed between Ohio and Alabama streets through mid-December as part of an intersection improvement project running through September 2027. I-29 resurfacing continues from Pigeon Creek to the Platte County line through October 2026, and short-term ramp closures are scheduled on I-229 Oct. 20–21.

DeKalb County's U.S. Route 36 intersection improvement at Bob F. Griffin Road continues through November 2026, with one lane open and right-turn restrictions in place.

Nodaway County has the heaviest workload: intersection improvements on U.S. 71 at 340th Street, resurfacing on U.S. 71, U.S. 46, U.S. 136, Route E, and Route EE, a deck replacement closure on Route VV at the Platte River Bridge through December 2026, and pavement repairs closing 250th Street from U.S. 71 to Jet Road Oct. 21–22, 7 a.m. - 3 p.m. daily.

MoDOT notes that moving operations such as mowing and brush cutting may occur throughout the region, and weather could alter schedules.

Drivers are urged to check the MoDOT Traveler Information Map or app for updates and to buckle up, put phones down, slow down, and move over in work zones.
