ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (KQTV) — Johnson Brothers Boxing is bringing their bouts back to Interserv with Southside Brawl VI on Saturday.

25 bouts are scheduled throughout the evening, featuring young, up-and-coming Olympic boxers from our area and six other states.

“You will see nine-year-old kids, you're going to see 18-year-old young adults that can have their craft perfected, whereas the nine-year-olds, they just go out there and swing, and it's kind of funny to watch,” said co-owner of Johnson Brothers Boxing. “So you'll get two different types of styles. We have a girl match, too.”

Doors will open at 4:00 pm at the Interserv Community Center, located at 5400 King Hill Avenue. The first bout is scheduled to begin at 5:00 pm.

This hometown experience means the world to the fighters who train and grow with Johnson Brothers Boxing.

“We try to get all of our guys matched. And the great thing about that is, when you're in a boxing gym, you get new faces, new people interested every year,” Huitt-Johnson shared. “So you go in there, you see some of our boxers; it'll be their very first match. And that's always exciting to see. See the challenge that they face, the new challenges in life. And it's going to be awesome to see that again.”

Tickets start at $15 for students and $20 for adults. In the spirit of Halloween and the Fright Night theme, attendees will receive $2 off admission if they come in a costume.

Event proceeds support Johnson Brothers Boxing's work to continue educating, training, and providing opportunities for young fighters in the area. For more information, click here.
