BETHANY, Mo. (KQTV) -- More than 1,200 students across Northwest Missouri are expected to explore careers in construction and skilled trades during the 2026 Build My Future Northwest Missouri event.

The event, organized by the Associated General Contractors of Missouri (AGCMO), will take place from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 28, at the Northwest Missouri State Fairgrounds in Bethany, Missouri.

A total of 1,220 students and 108 educators are registered to attend, representing 50 school programs throughout the region.

Students will have the opportunity to interact with 30 participating vendors offering hands-on activities, equipment demonstrations and opportunities to learn directly from construction industry professionals.

"One of the most exciting things about Build My Future is watching students discover career opportunities they may have never considered before," said Charlyce Ruth of AGCMO. "In rural communities, many students are already familiar with operating equipment, working with their hands and solving problems. What they may not realize is how those experiences and interests can translate into rewarding careers in construction. Build My Future gives them the opportunity to explore different trades, connect with industry professionals and learn about the many pathways available, whether through an apprenticeship, technical education or a college degree. Our goal is to help them see a future they can get excited about."

The event is free to participating students and schools.
