ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (KQTV) -- Voters elected Republican candidate Taylor Crouse to take over Missouri's District 11 House of Representatives seat.

Crouse ran against Democrat Luke Rae for the seat.

A total of 55.79%, or 6,396 voters, elected Crouse. Rae saw 43.97%, or 5,033 votes.

Crouse will take over for Brenda Shields in the House.

"That [campaigning] was the fun part," Crouse said. "Now it's the hard work. I wish I could just keep talking to people and doing what I've been doing, but we have to get to work. We have to be in Jeff City tomorrow and we've got an orientation coming up. It's a week long and we got a tour of Missouri. And so I'm going to do my best."
