MoDOT gives an update on Bob Griffin intersection improvement project

MoDOT

CAMERON, Mo. (KQTV) -- The Missouri Department of Transportation is continuing work on the Bob Griffin intersection improvement project and gave an update on the construction.

The goal of the project is to widen the right-turn lanes from U.S. Route 36 to Bob Griffin Road.

Michael Scarpitta is the resident engineer on the project and gave a timeline for the work being done.

"Right now, they're working on the far north tie-in right now on the north side of the project," Scarpitta said. "In the southwest corner, trying to get that all poured out. They're also working on the signals and lines on the north and southwest corner. Currently they're looking to go right in, right out of Bob Griffin and 36 Highway around Nov. 9, and that will move it into the next phase (of the project)."

Scarpitta said he is aware of how this project is affecting traffic and gave advice to drivers as construction continues.

"Try to just be patient and pay attention," Scarpitta said. "There are going to be some changes in traffic. Just be mindful and follow detours when going through there."

Scarpitta said he expects the project to wrap up around Thanksgiving, with some remaining work on the corners and minor shoulder work to follow.
