Rock Port High School volleyball sweeps Billings in Class 1 State Semis; advance to State Championship for first time

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (KQTV) - The Rock Port High School volleyball team, playing in the State Semifinals for the first time since 1993 and second time ever, swept Billings 3-0 in the Class 1 Semifinals (25-18, 27-25, 25-15).

The Lady Blue Jays advance to the State Championship now for the first time in school history.

Junior Braylyn Wood led Rock Port with 13 kills, followed by junior Kinley Lair with 10 and sophomore Stevie Gains with 8. Gaines also led the team with 19 assists followed by junior Raylynn Jenkins with 17. Wood and sophomore Leah Meyerkorth both had 12 digs.

"We're all best friends. We just all get along so well and we all practice so hard every day, and we click together really well," said Lair."

"Couldn't be much more exciting. First time in program history. I've been telling these girls that 1993 team led the way, but now we want everybody to think about the 2026 team whenever they think about volleyball," said Rock Port head coach Stephanie Parsons. "Somebody told me this week the only sport that has made it to a state championship has been the football program here. So now we're going to add volleyball to that as well."

Rock Port will now face Valle Catholic for the Class 1 State Championship on Thursday, November 5th at 4 pm at the Civic Arena.
