Farm City Breakfast celebrates agribusiness, featuring former KC Wolf as keynote speaker
ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (KQTV) – The St. Joseph Chamber of Commerce will host its Farm City Breakfast at Word of Life Church at 7 a.m. Friday, March 13.
This is the 22nd year for the event, which recognizes the farmer/producer and the importance of agribusiness to the area economy.
Proceeds from the event go toward Agriculture Future of America (AFA) Scholarships for area students pursuing agricultural-related degrees.
The keynote speaker this year is former KC Wolf Dan Meers.
Meers retired after over 35 years and was the NFL's longest-tenured mascot. He was inducted into the Mascot Hall of Fame in 2006 and the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame in 2020.
The Scott Gann family will receive the second Farm Family of the Year Award.
The family owns a multi-generation family farm with family members of all ages working together. Besides farming, Gann is very involved with the community with his construction company and is the past chairman of the St. Joseph Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors.
"The Chamber and our Agribusiness Committee is proud to host the Farm City Breakfast every year," said Natalie Hawn, President and CEO of the St. Joseph Chamber of Commerce. "It's a great way to bring hundreds of producers together with those who work in other sectors of agribusiness to discuss issues, all while raising money for agriculture-related scholarships for our youth.
The cost is $12 per person, and registration is available online.
