ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (KQTV) -- In sports, coaching milestones honor a coach’s achievements and the work they’ve put in over a career. At Central High School Thursday morning, the milestone celebration wasn't tied to a sport, but to an activity that demands just as much hard work and dedication.

Central High School leaders celebrated Scholar Bowl coach Jeff Carter's accomplishment of earning more than 1,000 career wins.

Carter took over Central's Scholar Bowl coach in 2010, and the program has an overall record of 985-223 with two state titles, 11 state appearances (every year since 2013-14) and 12 conference titles.

He spent two years as the head coach at Benton High School from 2008 to 2010.

In 2025-26, Carter's team is 43-2 overall and has already won the Suburban Red Conference championship.
