Annual Shamrock 5K to take place over the weekend

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (KQTV) -- Special Olympics Missouri North Area is hosting its annual Shamrock 5K Fun Run/Walk on Saturday, March 14.

The event will start at 10 a.m. at 11th Street and Grand Avenue and finish at Norty's Bar and Grill.

Entry fees for participants are $30 for individuals 16 years old and older, and $20 for those 15 and younger.

The registration fees will be $35 and $25 the day of the event.

Medals will be given to the overall adult winner and the youth winner of the race.

Participants are encouraged to wear their silliest costumes, as there will be an award given to the most outrageous costume at the end of the event.

All proceeds gathered from the event will benefit local area athletes who are year-round competitors of Special Olympics Missouri.
