Students recognized for being in the top 10 percent class

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (KQTV)-- The top 10% of students from the St. Joseph School District, Bishop LeBlond and St. Joseph Christian were recognized during a special luncheon held at Missouri Western State University Wednesday.

The event brought students together, celebrating their hard work and commitment to staying engaged in school.

“We have spent 64 years since we have been recognizing these students as they are preparing for college or for whatever they choose to do after graduating high school,” Bryan Dierberger, president of the St. Joseph Host Lion’s Club said.

Dierberger said the event is about more than just grades—it’s about honoring the many different ways students achieve success.

"Every achievement is important for every young person but this is one way we recognize these students,” Dierberger said.

He also said how hosting the luncheon at MoWest gives students a chance to experience a college campus firsthand, which can be helpful as they begin thinking about life after graduation.
