Woman seriously injured in crash on I-29 Tuesday

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (KQTV) -- A 24-year-old woman from Kansas City, Missouri, was seriously injured in a crash on northbound Interstate 29, near the Frederick Avenue exit, Tuesday night.

The crash occurred at 10:19 p.m. as an 80-year-old male from Cheyenne, Wyoming, driving a 2022 Kenworth W900, a cab truck, was slowing to stop in the driving lane of I-29.

The woman, driving a 2004 Honda CRV was also northbound and failed to observe stopped traffic ahead, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol news release.

The woman struck the left rear of the towed unit of the Kenworth at full speed.

Both vehicles came to a stop in the driving lane on their wheels, facing north.

The woman was transported by Buchanan County EMS to Mosaic Life Care in St. Joseph. The woman was not wearing a seatbelt and the man was not, according to the report.
