VIDEO: Reports of power outages, trees down and structure damage in Fillmore
FILLMORE, Mo. (KQTV) -- Fillmore residents are working to clean up damage from severe weather and storms that swept through the area.
No injuries were reported from the storms, but damage included downed trees, damaged cars and roofs, and power outages affecting many residents.
Some residents in the area reported seeing a funnel cloud, strong winds, hail and rain.
Charlie Townsend, Fillmore fire chief said after the storms, many people from the surrounding county came to Fillmore to help with the cleanup efforts.
"You had Bolckow Fire Department, Rosendale Fire Department, county employees, city employees and Savannah city employees helped out," he said.
David Gabriel, emergency coordinator for Andrew county wanted to give Fillmore a shoutout for their efforts for cleaning up the streets after the storm.
"When was up here going through the streets everybody had a chainsaw in their hand and watching because there was power lines down," he said. "They were all cutting limbs, trees to make sure there was access to everywhere in town."
Justin Moore, Fillmore resident had a lot damage in his backyard after the storm. Moore is glad everyone is safe.
"You know anything back here can be rebuilt. Mostly I'm glad that my family is not hurt and nobody in the community got hurt," he said.
Due to the serve damage in his backyard, Moore and his family has lost power since Monday night.
"As you can see my power poll is on the ground, and I been without power since 8:30 p.m. last night," he said.
GeanAnne George-Evans, Fillmore resident said she saw a funnel cloud formed.
"I was on the pouch watching the lighting and it was pretty calm. All of the sudden the wind picked up and I just see the clouds form together," she said. "I was still pretty still at the point and then I just shut the door. I got an eerie feeling."
Fillmore residents said they didn't received any waring or emergency sirens.
"It was like at a distance because I was still standing in the door. I was inside my house but the door was open. It was still at a distance. I wasn't quite sure if that was a tornado. I never seen one before," she said.
The National Weather Service has not confirmed whether the severe storm Monday night in Fillmore was a tornado.
