Former KXCV general manager’s legacy honored with Hall of Fame induction

OSAGE BEACH, Mo. (KQTV) -- A longtime supporter, promoter, and leader of an area radio station was posthumously inducted into a statewide Hall of Fame over the weekend.

Sharon Bonnett (1944-2023) was a 1965 graduate of Northwest Missouri State and went on to lead the on-campus radio station — KXCV/KRNW.

Bonnett served as a producer, program director, and general manager at KXCV.

"She was a mother-like figure around the radio station that molded them (students)," said Matt Tritten, current KXCV/KRNW program and sports director. "She was loving, but would also let them know if they needed to improve on something."

The longtime KXCV leader spent more than 30 years at the station and helped build the station into what it is today.

"Just the caring that she had for the students and her staff is something that I try to really take away," said John Coffey, current KXCV/KRNW general manager said. "Just the fact that she really wanted the students to succeed in life."

After her death in 2023, Northwest renamed its radio studios in Wells Hall after her.
