JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KQTV) -- Following President Donald Trump's speech regarding election security Thursday night, the Missouri Secretary of State is speaking out about cleaning up the state's voter rolls.

Secretary of State Denny Hoskins took to social media Thursday night to echo the President's message "Americans deserve the most secure, honest election system in the world."

Hoskins said that he has been leading an effort to "shore up" Missouri's voter rolls and has removed more than 280,000 ineligible voters.

The Secretary of State said the ineligible voters include "deceased, non-citizens, felons and former Missourians."

He adds that the state has been working with state and federal law enforcement to "ensure only US citizens vote in Missouri elections".

In his primetime address Thursday, President Trump announced that he has declassified documents that he claims reveals vulnerabilities in America's election systems, election fraud and interference in elections by China, and ordered the Department of Justice to prosecute those believed to be involved.

"America is back and doing really well, but we still have a major challenge that must be urgently addressed because no country can be great without fair and honest elections, you have to trust your country," Trump said. "Because if there can be no trust, there can be no greatness, and that's very simple: no trust, no greatness."

President Trump has consistently stated for the last six years that the 2020 election was "stolen" and "rigged".
