Tracking Tuesday sunshine and dangerous heat

Good morning and happy Tuesday!

Temperatures are starting out in the upper 70s under mostly clear skies. However, another hot day is ahead, with temperatures climbing back into the upper 90s.

A Heat Advisory will go into effect at noon today across much of Northwest Missouri and northeastern Kansas and remain in effect through 8 p.m. An Extreme Heat Warning is also in effect for portions of the area farther west and south of U.S. 36.

Heat index values are expected to climb into the triple digits this afternoon, making for another dangerous day of heat.

Relief arrives overnight as a cold front moves through the region, bringing scattered rain chances and cooler temperatures. Wednesday will be mostly cloudy and rainy at times, with temperatures falling into the middle 80s.

Cooler weather settles in by Thursday, with highs in the low 80s. Scattered rain chances will continue through the remainder of the week and into the weekend, but temperatures will stay much closer to seasonal averages, generally in the middle 80s.

After another hot day Tuesday, a much-needed pattern change is on the way, bringing cooler temperatures and additional opportunities for rain.
