Benton duo named to 16U USA Baseball Midwest All-Region Team

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (KQTV) -- Two Benton High School baseball players have earned All-Region honors for their play in 16U USA Baseball.

Cardinals' Porter McCarthy and Xander Tiller will be on the 16U Midwest team for USA Baseball's National Team Identification Series next month in Cary, North Carolina.

The 15U & 16U NTIS Champions Cup will take place from Aug. 13- Aug. 16.

The Champions Cup features 12 teams per age group and athletes will participate in workouts and a championship-style tournament while also being evaluated by national team coaches and scouts.

After the Champions Cup, USA Baseball will invite at least 72 athletes to the national team and National Team Development Program (NTDP) in the next calendar year.

McCarthy has also been invited to the PrepBaseball 2026 Future Games in Atlanta to represent Team Missouri.
