MSHP Corporal, NWMO native promoted to Sergeant

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (KQTV) -- Corporal John M. Harrison was recently promoted to sergeant and designated the commander for Zone 5, Andrew and Buchanan counties.

Sgt. Harrison grew up in Mound City, Missouri, and graduated in 2006. Before joining the Patrol, he attended Missouri Western State University in St. Joseph, Missouri.

Harrison was appointed to the Patrol as a member of the 90th Recruit Class. After graduating from the Patrol's Law Enforcement Academy in December 2009, he was assigned to Troop A, Zone 1, Platte County.

In March 2020, Harrison was promoted to corporal and appointed assistant zone supervisor for Zone 1.

In January 2024, he took a voluntary demotion to trooper and transferred to Troop H, Zone 5, for Andrew and Buchanan counties.

In May 2025, Harrison was designated the assistant zone supervisor in Zone 5 and was promoted to corporal. This is where he remained until his promotion to sergeant.
