St. Joseph native participates in naval exercise

PEARL HARBOR, Hawaii (KQTV) -- A former Central High School student is participating in a the worlds largest international maritime warfare exercise.

Seaman Giuseppe Ingargiola currently serves on the USS Theodore Roosevelt, which operates out of San Diego, California.

He is currently participating in the Rim of the Pacific 2026 (RIMPAC) exercise near the Hawaiian Islands.

"Serving in the Navy is an honor and a privilege to protect my country, and it shows my kids to never give up on their dreams," Ingargiola said.

RIMPAC is a military exercise at sea that provides unique training for participants and helps sustain cooperative relationships that are critical to ensuring safety at sea.

The training program includes aspects of gunnery, missile, anti-submarine and are defense strikes.

As well as amphibious, explosive ordnance disposal, and counter-piracy.

RIMPAC 2026 is set to come to an end on Friday, July 31st.
