Cameron law enforcement arrests Saturday shooting suspect

CAMERON, Mo. (KQTV) -- The Cameron Police Department said they have arrested a suspect who allegedly shot a man in the chest Saturday.

Officers received a call at approximately 7:03 p.m. about a shooting in the 800 block of South Chestnut Street.

Upon arrival, officers found a 28-year-old man collapsed in the driveway of a residence suffering from a gunshot wound.

According to a news release from Cameron Police and Emergency Management, officers learned the suspect had allegedly fled the scene.

Soon after, law enforcement arrested the suspect in the 300 block of South Walnut Street.

Cameron Police and Emergency Management identified the suspect as Travis Alexander Collins, Jr., 26, of Cameron, Missouri. Collins was taken into custody without incident.

The Clinton County Prosecuting Attorney's Office has charged Collins with:

• First Degree Assault
• Armed Criminal Action
• Endangering the Welfare of a Child in First Degree, creating a substantial risk

According to a news release, the court has ordered that Collins be held without bond.

The Cameron Police and Emergency Management said the charges are allegations only. Collins is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in the court of law.
