Semi-truck driver seriously injured in crash with another Semi

ATCHISON COUNTY, Mo. (KQTV) -- A 50-year-old female driver from Galloway, Ohio, of a 2020 Volvo Tractor-trailer was seriously injured in a crash involving another Semi-truck near Corning, Missouri.

The crash occurred around 1:30 p.m. Tuesday on northbound Interstate 29 at the 100.2 mile-marker.

The crash involved a 64-year-old male driver from LaPlace, Louisiana, of a 2026 Freightliner tractor-trailer.

The Volvo was northbound on Interstate 29, and the Freightliner was stationary on the east shoulder of I-29 facing northbound.

The Volvo traveled off the east side of the roadway, and the front right bumper crashed into the rear of the Freightliner's towed unit.

The Volvo then traveled off the west side of the roadway and came to rest in the median facing north on its wheels. The Freightliner came to rest on its wheels facing north in the east ditch.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report, the driver of the Volvo was wearing a seatbelt, but the driver of the Freightliner was not.

Both drivers were transported by Atchison-Holt Ambulance District to Mosaic Life Care.
