SJPD officers exchange gunfire with suspect near Heritage Park

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (KQTV) -- St. Joseph Police Department are searching for a suspect after an exchange of gunfire near Heritage Park Saturday night.

The incident happened around 8:50 p.m., according to the St. Joseph Police Department.

SJPD said officers exchanged gunfire with a "suspicious person," but no law enforcement injuries have been reported. The suspect fled north, police said.

A description of the suspect is not available at this time.

Law enforcement remained around the St. Jo Frontier Casino late Saturday night.

People inside the casino told KQ2 they could leave but couldn't come back in.
