ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (KQTV) -- The Hearing Connection hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the expansion of its new St. Joseph location on Friday morning.

The Hearing Connection was in its original building for 13 years and wanted to expand to a bigger space. The new location is just across the parking lot from its old location.

"This space is going to give us the opportunity to grow. We got some extra office space, and there’s a conference room where we can do some seminars and things like that," said Jonathan Schneider, owner of The Hearing Connection and board-certified hearing instrument specialist.

The business said the expansion was needed because it was seeing an increase in patients.

"We’re busier, and we want to keep up the same great service we’ve been doing for a long time," he said.

With the new space, Schneider is looking to hire an additional hearing instrument specialist.

"We’re continuing to have at least two people here all the time to help our patients," he said. "That really helps because people have trouble, and we have a lot of walk-ins where we can service people usually that same day."

Schneider said hearing health is just as important and should be checked regularly.

"Hearing tests are free, so even if you don’t feel like you're having a lot of trouble, it’s good to just get checked up on," he said.

The new location is at 3906 Sherman Ave.
