Kansas man seriously injured in 3 vehicle crash

DEKALB COUNTY, Mo. (KQTV) -- A 63-year-old male driver from Barnes, Kansas, was seriously injured in a three-vehicle crash on Interstate 35 in DeKalb County Sunday evening.

The crash occurred around 4:50 p.m. in the southbound lane of I-35 at the 55.6-mile marker, just one mile north of Cameron, Missouri.

The crash involved the 63-year-old man from Kansas, driving a 2026 Ford F-250, a 32-year-old man driving a 2015 Volvo VNL from Bloomington, Minnesota and a 28-year-old woman from Pleasant Hill, Missouri driving a Chrysler Pacifica.

All three vehicles were southbound on I-35 when the 63-year-old man attempted to split the lane between the other two vehicles, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report.

The man struck both vehicles and then traveled off the west side of the roadway into the embankment, struck a ditch and overturned.

The Ford came to rest on its top facing south, the Chrysler and the Volvo came to a controlled stop on the shoulder facing south on their wheels.

All three drivers were wearing a seatbelt and the 63-year-old man suffered serious injuries. He was transported by Cameron Ambulance to Liberty Hospital.
