United Way to host ‘Raising Children with Conscious Discipline’ sessions

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (KQTV) -- United Way of Greater St. Joseph announced one of its free programs is making a return for the fall.

"Raising Children with Conscious Discipline" helps parents, grandparents and other caregivers and professionals who work with children ages birth to six understand the core principles of Conscious Discipline and how to move from "surviving to thriving."

The program welcomes new and returning learners.

Sessions will be held at Wyatt Park Christian Church, located at 2623 Mitchell Avenue. In-person attendees will receive one and a half Missouri Clock Hours Child Care Licensing credit for each session.

A Zoom option will be available, but virtual participants will not receive Clock Hour credit or other attendance verification.

The first session will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Sept. 28 and will cover the foundations of Conscious Discipline and how to prevent short-term tantrums and regain peaceful connections.

Future sessions will cover assertiveness on Oct. 19 and self-motivation on Nov. 9.
