Buchanan County U.S. Route 59 project moving forward

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (KQTV) -- The Missouri Department of Transportation and Aminos Brothers Co., Inc are working together on the next phase of construction for an intersection improvement project.

The project is at U.S. Route 59 and Routes 752 and U in St. Joseph on Sept. 30.

Crews will begin work on U.S. Route 59 from Ohio to Alabama street to install turn lanes, stabilize the subgrade, pave driveways and business entrances, and pave the roadways.

During the process, there will be several traffic impacts on the route.

Northbound U.S. Route 59 will be closed between Ohio and Alabama streets.

Motorists will need to follow detour signs using Route 752 to King Hill Avenue.

Southbound U.S. Route 59 will be reduced to one lane between Ohio and Alabama streets.

A width restriction of 11 feet will be in place on the route.

This phase of the project is scheduled to be completed by the middle of December of this year.
