Central senior, shot put state champion commits to Division I program

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (KQTV) -- A Central senior who won a state shot put championship in May has found her college home.

Central senior Emery Omon announced last month that she has committed to Lindenwood University to continue her track and field career.

As a junior at Lafayette, Omon won the Class 3 state shot put championship with a throw of 12.17 meters (39 feet, 11¼ inches).

Omon is a three-sport athlete who competes in volleyball, basketball and track and field.

Lindenwood is a Division I program in St. Charles, Missouri.
