Northwest women picked fourth, Griffons tabbed seventh in MIAA coaches poll

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KQTV) -- The Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association’s preseason women’s basketball coaches poll has Northwest Missouri State and Missouri Western in the top 7.

In this year’s poll, the Bearcats are picked to finish fourth in the league. Head coach Austin Meyer is in his ninth season leading Northwest. The Bearcats finished fifth in the MIAA last season.

The Griffons were selected to finish seventh. In Luke Scheidecker’s first season, MoWest went 15-16 overall and 9-10 in conference play. The Griffons closed the year winning nine of their last 11 games and reached the MIAA Tournament semifinals.
