ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (KQTV) -- St. Joseph's NAACP Chapter will host a public forum to share information and answer questions about the future of the facility and its programs.

The discussion is set to take place at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 8, in the Bartlett Center Gymnasium. Representatives from NAACP, TMCA, United Way, the City Manager and Bartlett Center Board Member(s) will be in attendance for the panel.

Community members are encouraged to attend, ask questions and share their thoughts about the future of the center and the resource.

In a Facebook post, board member Tama Wagner said the Bartlett Center will continue operating for the next couple of weeks as the board works through the transition to the YMCA.

There will be a panel during the meeting, consisting of representatives from NAACP, YMCA, City manager, United Way and Bartlett Center board members.

Last week, board leaders announced that child care services would pause Thursday, Oct. 8. But now, the plan has changed. The transition to the YMCA is scheduled for Oct. 23.

The community will also have an opportunity to help out this weekend during a volunteer work weekend.

Volunteers will be at the facility from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 10, and Sunday, Oct. 11.
