MO voters to decide on Amendment 3 in November

KQ2

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KQTV) -- Missouri voters will decide on Amendment 3 this November, a ballot measure that would overturn previously passed reproductive freedoms.

In the November 2024 election, Missouri voters agreed to keep abortion rights in the state, but a ballot measure this election cycle is looking to reverse it.

Ballot language states the amendment would repeal the 2024 voter-approved amendment providing reproductive healthcare rights, including abortion through fetal viability.

It would allow abortions for rape and incest under twelve weeks' gestation, emergencies, and fetal anomalies. It would also allow legislation regulating abortion, ensure parental consent for minors' abortions, and prohibit gender transition procedures for minors.

Opposition to the bill states that transgender transition procedures are already illegal for minors, and this measure would overturn the will of the people to keep abortion legal.

Supporters say the measure would restore the state legislature's power to pass laws regulating abortion, including requirements for informed consent, clinic safety standards, inspections, and reporting, while also protecting access to care for miscarriages and medical emergencies.

A "yes" vote would repeal the 2024 voter-approved amendment. A "no" vote would keep it in place.
