I-229 Double-Decker to close for ramp inspections

Mickey Monson | KQ2

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (KQTV) -- The Double-Decker bridge on Interstate 229 will be closed again in less than a week, after it was already closed at the beginning of October for its biannual inspection and annual maintenance.

Due to weather, crews from the Missouri Department of Transportation had to delay inspection of the bridge's on- and off-ramps.

The inspections are now scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 20 and Wednesday, Oct. 21. Crews may have short-term closures of the ramps at various times throughout the two days.

Southbound I-229 to Felix Street, from Charles Street, to Route 759 and to eastbound U.S. 36 Highway will be closed periodically.

In addition, northbound I-229 from Francis Street, to Edmond Street and from Route 759 will be closed periodically.

MoDOT said all work is weather-permitting and schedules are subject to change.
