Savannah FFA member wins top national honor

Missouri FFA

INDIANAPOLIS (KQTV) -- A former Savannah High School FFA student has earned a top national honor for work in fruit and nut production.

Cole Schweizer received the National FFA Fruit and Nut Production Proficiency Award at the 99th National FFA Convention.

The award recognizes students who gain hands-on experience and build career skills by growing, managing or working in commercial fruit or tree nut operations through their supervised agricultural experience.

Schweizer works in the family business at Schweizer’s Orchard.

“You’re doing so much," Schweizer said. "You’re out there almost every day of the week during the summer, all the time during the weekends, during school years, and you’re just helping out as much as you can, just trying to better your family’s farm rather than harming it."

Schweizer is a freshman at the University of Missouri.
