ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (KQTV) -- Missouri State Rep. Dean VanSchoiack was re-elected to represent House District 9.

VanSchoiack ran against Gena Puckett, receiving 68% (8,293 votes) compared to Puckett’s 32% (3,853 votes).

He has served six years representing the district, and this will be his final term. He said he is very thankful to the people in the 9th district for electing him for his final term.

"It is an honor and a privilege to serve them as a State Representative. I'm humbled and appreciate their trust in me," VanSchoiack said.

He said protecting property rights will remain his top priority following his re-election, as it has throughout his time in office.

"We've got several bills that deals with eminent domain and animal rights for animal owners," said VanSchoiack. "We're going to be working on those, they're being drafted right now."

VanSchoiack also plans to mentor new legislators and help guide them through the bill-filing process.

For his last term, he hopes to be helpful to Missouri by passing good legislation and defeating bad legislation.
