MoWest to commemorate 25th anniversary of 9/11

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (KQTV) -- Missouri Western State University announced it will be doing different activities across campus to commemorate the 25th anniversary of 9/11.

Students, staff and faculty are invited to stop by and write a thank-you card for local firefighters, EMTs, paramedics, law enforcement officers and other first responders.

The activity will take place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 8 and Wednesday, Sept. 9, in the Blum Student Union lobby.

From noon to 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 9, the university is inviting first responders, community members and family to show their support in a "Battle of the Badges" Blood Drive.

Participants can show their support by rolling up their sleeves and donating blood to cast their vote for their favorite first responders.

The local first responder unit with the most donors will receive MoWest's blood drive trophy.

Walk-ins are welcome, or interested participants can sign up at savealifenow.org/group and use the group code P4.

At 8 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 11, a memorial stair climb will be held in Spratt Memorial Stadium.

Students, faculty, staff, community members, military service members, veterans and first responders will climb stairs in remembrance of the 110 stories of the World Trade Center and honor the victims, first responders and heroes of Sept. 11, 2001.

All activities are sponsored by the Center for Military and Veteran Services and the Center for Service.
