Get to Know: Allen Reavis, Republican Candidate for U.S. Representative, District 63

Allen Reavis

ATCHISON, Kan. (KQTV) -- Allen Reavis, the incumbent representative for District 63 of the Kansas House of Representatives, is looking to get re-elected to his seat.

Reavis was no stranger to holding public office before being elected in 2025.

"I've proven to be in a position as a city commissioner for 13 years, and I was a mayor for five," Reavis said. "I was an elected county commissioner for two years, then I left that and got elected state rep mid-cycle."

Reavis takes pride in his position, especially through his skills in interacting with people in his community.

"What I hear back from people is that they trust me, that I listen, and that they feel like they've been heard," Reavis said.

Reavis has served as a delegate, or alternate delegate, to the Americans with Disabilities Act, as well as being a member of the Kansas Dental Association since 1985.

Reavis said with his position, he wants to continue to spend money in ways benefitting the people around him.

"We've been able to get the dental rates and reimbursements back up and high enough that we're actually able to get more dentists now to participate in Medicaid and serve the undeserved," Reavis said. "The other thing I've worked really hard on is just trying to get the budget down where we don't have deficit spending. Two years ago it was around $800 million in deficit spending, and this last year it was roughly around $5 (million)."

Despite siding with one side of the political aisle, Reavis does find many similarities between Democrats and Republicans.

"Politics gets portrayed in a horrible way, and it's just driven by so much big PAC money and everything," Reavis said. "The Issues that separate us are very few. And they just get the magnifying glass, so I think if we can just keep our perspective and realize that we're not all going to agree. But if we can get it right most of the time, we're doing pretty good."

Reavis is running against Democratic Candidate, Adam Booth for the Kansas District 63 House of Representatives on the Nov. 3 ballot.
