2 seriously injured in three-vehicle crash in Livingston County

LIVINGSTON, Mo. (KQTV) -- A 77-year-old man and 28-year-old woman from Chillicothe, Missouri, are both seriously injured following a three-vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 65 Tuesday afternoon.

The crash happened around 4:50 p.m. at the intersection of U.S. 65 and Livingston County Road 224, just four miles north of Chillicothe.

The 28-year-old driver of a 2015 Chevrolet Tahoe and the 77-year-old driver of a 2017 Dodge Grand Caravan were northbound on U.S. 65.

A 52-year-old man driving a 2006 Peterbilt 365, a cab used to haul heavy equipment and machinery or dump and mix concrete, was headed south on U.S. 65.

The Tahoe attempted to make a left turn onto Livingston County Road 224 and traveled into the path of the Peterbilt, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report.

The Peterbilt struck the passenger side of the Tahoe, where the Tahoe then slid counterclockwise, and its front fender struck the driver's side of the Dodge.

The Tahoe traveled off the east side of the roadway and came to rest on its wheels facing west. The Peterbilt traveled off the west side of the roadway and came to rest in a field on its wheels facing south. The Dodge traveled off the east side of the roadway and came to rest on its wheels, partially blocking the northbound lane of U.S. 65.

The 77-year-old driver was wearing a seatbelt and suffered serious injuries. He was transported by Livingston County EMS to the nearest hospital.

The 28-year-old driver was also wearing a seatbelt and suffered serious injuries. She was transported to Hedrick Medical Center by Livingston County EMS and then transported by Life Flight to Truman Medical Center.

A 5 -year-old girl was an occupant in the Tahoe, who was also wearing a seatbelt. She suffered minor injuries and was transported to Hedrick Medical Center by Livingston County EMS.
