Wife of Chiefs OC Eric Bieniemy allegedly shot by their son

ASHBURN, Va. (KQTV) -- The wife of Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy was shot in the couple's home Sunday night in Virginia.

According to the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office, Mia Bieniemy was shot multiple times and taken to a hospital Sunday night. Deputies responded to the Bieniemy's home around 7:30 p.m. Sunday night.

Elijah Zion Bieniemy was arrested and charged with Malicious Wounding, Use of a Firearm in Commission of a Felony, and Discharge of a Firearm Inside of a Dwelling. He is being held in the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center without bound.

Elijah is the couple's 27-year-old son.

The Kansas City Chiefs are aware of the incident. Eric Bieniemy has been in St. Joseph with the team for training camp at Missouri Western.

Bieniemy returned to the Chiefs in the offseason to be the offensive coordinator again. He previously served as the OC from 2018 to 2022.
