ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (KQTV) -- The Mosaic Life Care Behavioral Health Department received a $12,000 donation from Mosaic Life Care Auxiliary and the W.O.W. Baseball Tournament.

Over the span of two weekends in April, the Walk-off Wood (W.O.W) Bat Baseball Tournament accommodated over 50 high school baseball teams.

Tournament organizers donated the gate sales to Mosaic's Behavioral Health Department's patient assistance fund and their contributions were matched by Mosaic Life Care Auxiliary.

Shaylynn Burnham, Fund Request chair, MLC Auxiliary, shared her gratitude for another fantastic event.

“My fellow Auxiliary Board members and I are honored to partner in this project to bring mental health awareness to our community," Burnham said. "Mental health is no longer a taboo topic; it is a crucial issue that affects so many people. We are incredibly grateful to Kevin Kerns and his dedicated volunteers for their relentless efforts to educate our community through the Wood Bat Tournament. Events like this play an essential role in opening minds and raising awareness among players, spectators, and donors alike. Thanks to this initiative, we are proud to match the tournament's proceeds, providing a combined $12,000.00 to support the Mosaic Life Care (MLC) Behavioral Health Department because no one walks alone when we walk together!”

The W.O.W. Baseball Tournament and the Auxiliary's match have, to date, donated over $44,000 to the Behavioral Health Patient Assistance fund.
