Savannah Aqautic Center to host ribbon cutting to celebrate renovations

SAVANNAH, Mo. (KQTV) -- After it was announced near the end of last swimming season by the Savannah Parks Department that the pool had reached the end of its lifespan, the Savannah Aquatic Center will host a ribbon-cutting to celebrate renovations.

The ribbon-cutting will take place at 5 p.m. on Thursday, May 21.

Since announcing the pool's closure at the end of the 2025 season, the Andrew County Aquatic's Initative raised over $900,000 to renovate and reopen the pool for the 2026 season and beyond.

Originally, the group considered raising enough funds through donations to build a new facility; however, after officials analyzed the foundation and amenities, it was determined that the original structure could be saved.

From there, multiple fundraising efforts ensued, and on the morning of April 17, ACAI officially announced that it had met its goal.

ACAI's $900,000 goal would fund the much-needed renovations to extend the pool's life. The group said it exceeded that goal by raising a total of $911,694.

The ceremony will take place at the Savannah Aquatic Center, located at 1215 West Chestnut St.
