Measly Mile Mafia asks residents to watch out for runners during upcoming Girls vs Boys challenge

Measly Mile Mafia

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (KQTV) -- June 6 will see the return of the annual Girls versus Boys challenge within the Measly Mile Mafia, with money from the event going to charity.

To celebrate the establishment of their group, formed around four years ago, the Measly Mile Mafia holds a girls-versus-boys challenge to see which gender can run the most miles in a single day. Runners pledge money in the process, and three charities will be drawn at random: two from the winners and one from the runner-up.

Last year, in its 2025 edition, the group raised about $3,000 for charity, according to longtime member Trey Rowe.

With a large day like this, with many runners scurrying all over town for a good reason, Rowe also wants people in St. Joseph and the surrounding areas to be aware, even if they are not participating.

"Just keep your eyes peeled for runners on the road," Rowe shared.

The Measly Mile Mafia plans to have another base for the day apart from their usual home at River Bluff Brewing. Local supporters with a home near Frederick and Noyes will be a meeting spot for participants to refuel and rest during the long day of running.
