Health officials urge precautions as heat advisory takes effect

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (KQTV) -- Extreme heat is expected to affect the area, and health officials are urging residents to take precautions to protect themselves from heat-related illnesses.

The National Weather Service has issued a Heat Advisory in effect from noon to 10 pm.

Extreme heat could cause heat exhaustion and heat stroke.

United Way of Greater St. Joseph also posted a list of cooling centers and emergency shelters available for the public.
