1 man injured in early morning shooting on Messanie Street

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (KQTV) -- One man sustained serious injuries in a shooting incident on Messanie Street Monday morning.

The St. Joseph Police Department responded at 4:00 am on July 27 in front of the Frog Hop Convenience Store on Messanie Street.

The public was first alerted via a Nixle Alert at 4:20 am to avoid Messanie Street between 22nd Street and 17th Street.

SJPD Captain Richard McGregory confirmed officers were called to the area around 4:00 am for a shooting.

One man was shot and sustained severe injuries. He was taken to Mosaic Life Care, where he is in stable condition.

Law enforcement confirmed there is no threat to the public at this time and continues to investigate the incident.
