Revl&Co preparing to open doors soon
ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (KQTV) -- Downtown is set to see its newest eating establishment open in mid-August. Revl&Co aims to provide a fun fine-dining experience without having to travel far.
Part-owners Adrienne and Jeff Waggoner hosted a media shoot on Friday, July 31, to prepare for the restaurant's opening. The two also own The Den in downtown, along with having a hand in many other projects and associations that assist a historic area of the city.
The two shared a lot of gratitude for the nearly full house, which helped showcase their new venture in the best way possible.
"It's overwhelming, it really is. A lot of people don't realize how emotional of a guy I am," said Jeff as he held back tears.
"Some of our dearest friends, years ago, when we first met them, they're our dear friends now. But when we first met them, they were like, wow. Ever. You meet people who are everyone's a dreamer. Still, you guys are doers," Adrienne continued for Jeff. "(Having) people willing to partner with us on adventures like this, people willing to come work for us, like some who are on board have been with us for other projects and want in on anything new we do."
The two, along with all who have had a hand in planning and preparing, have an award-winning chef, Jacob Hilbert, helping with food. Along with other recognizable names in every other area of service, from drinks on, according to the couple.
The main floor where customers enter features a specially crafted seating area with a partition wall. The restaurant is currently in the process of making an area connected to the building that will feature large windows that open for a beautiful experience no matter what season.
They don't just plan to offer a great place to enjoy a fine crafted meal; the basement features a speakeasy where guests can get to a quieter area to enjoy drinks.
The Waggoners give a lot of their credit to The Den and what's becoming of Revl&Co.
"People will, you know, ask all the time what the secret is. Honestly, we hire people smarter than we are. We are workers, and we will pull people together, and we will get things done," Adrienne shared. "But this would not have happened if we did not have the talent that we do from the young kids we've hired to be dishwashers to our staff, to our support, to our kitchen."
With a shared public uncertainty around downtown, these two believe in making it happen and showing that downtown can and will prevail with new ideas from locals.
However, empowering the community to work together to bring ideas like Revl&Co to downtown St. Joseph is what the couple wants to continue to do. They hope to satisfy but also inspire with the opening of this new spot.
"We're not saying that we're better than anyone else. It's that we're bringing something different and refreshing to the community that we couldn't find," Jeff Waggoner shared. "It should be approachable and will be approachable for, you know, a very wide range of people. So, you shouldn't be scared to come and try what it is that we created."
Area residents can get a first look at the town's newest restaurant, with a drinks-only open house coming up on Saturday, August 8th, during Second Saturdays from noon to 3:00 pm. The Waggoners shared they hope to have Revl&Co open and running by August 15.
When the restaurant does open, reservations are not required; however, they are encouraged. Those interested can check details on their website or by following their social media.
