Atchison man arrested, charged with multiple counts connected to Tuesday explosion near residence

ATCHISON, Kan. (KQTV) -- 49-year-old Taurus S. Beadles of Atchison, Kansas, was arrested Wednesday evening and charged with arson, criminal use of explosives and criminal threat connected to an explosion Tuesday evening.

According to the Atchison Police Department, damage to a residence's siding, windows and more was caused by an explosive that went off around 9 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 25.

Multiple first responder groups from the area convened on the property Wednesday, Aug. 26.

Around 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, the APD's Special Response Team executed a search warrant at a residence in the 100 block of South 16th Street, seizing evidence.

Beadles was arrested at the residence in connection with an investigation into the explosion. He was taken to the Atchison County Jail as the investigation continues.
