Benton coach brings inaugural marathon and ultramarathon to Rosecrans

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (KQTV)-- Benton High School cross country and assistant track coach Daniel Benz is bringing an endurance event to the area. 

The inaugural Show Me Free State Marathon and Ultramarathon is set for Oct. 24-25, featuring races ranging from a half marathon to a 100-mile ultramarathon.  

Other distances include a marathon, 50K and 50-mile race. 

The event will start and finish at Rosecrans Memorial Airport, with runners traveling through both Missouri and Kansas. 

Proceeds will support several Benton student activities and athletic programs, including cross country, National Honor Society, student council and more.
