Buchanan County Investigator vehicle struck by small motorcycle

BUCHANAN COUNTY, Mo. (KQTV) -- A Buchanan County Investigator's vehicle was struck by a motorcycle Sunday night.

The crash occurred as Buchanan County Investigator Abel Garcia was westbound at the intersection of Faraon and 9th streets in his assigned, unmarked Sheriff's Office vehicle

Garcia stopped at the stop sign and proceeded through the intersection, according to a news release from the Buchanan County Sheriff's Office.

An 18-year-old male without a helmet and lights, operating a smaller motorcycle, was southbound on 9th Street. When he entered the intersection, he struck the investigator in the back passenger door.

The 18-year-old was transported by ambulance to Mosaic Life Care, where he was treated and released. Garcia was not injured in the crash.

The St. Joseph Police Department investigated the crash, where the 18-year-old driver received several citations.
