Royals win their home opener against the Twins, 3-1

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KQTV) -- The Kansas City Royals had their home opener at Kauffman Stadium, where they defeated the Minnesota Twins, 3-1.

The bottom of Kansas City's batting order got it done for the Royals on Monday afternoon in front of a sold-out crowd. Isaac Collins and Kyle Isbel both had a home run in this one, which was enough to grab the Royals second win of the season.

"With winning ball clubs, it's a different guy every night," said Collins. "We can't always rely on Bobby, Mikey, Vinny and Salvy. We have to do our thing too. If it can be a different guy every night, we're going to win a lot of games."

Kris Bubic was on the mound for the Royals and grabbed his first win of the season. In his six innings pitched, he allowed two hits, had three strikeouts and finished with an ERA of 1.50.

"Overall, there was some good and some bad for me," said Bubic. "Under the hood it might not be the prettiest, but at the same time, I pitched deep into the game and had some quick innings."

The Royals will be back at Kauffman Stadium on Wednesday against the Twins with St. Joseph native Noah Cameron expected to get the start at pitcher. First pitch is slated for 6:40 p.m.
