St. Joseph Mustangs cruise to home victory over KC Monarchs

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (KQTV) - The St. Joseph Mustangs baseball team got some redemption over the KC Monarchs at home Thursday night in a 9-1 victory. The Monarchs had beaten the Mustangs 10-5 a week prior at Phil Welch Stadium.

The win also snaps a 2-game losing streak for the Mustangs as the team improves to 3-3 on the season.

Lafayette High School alum Jayden Little finished 2-for-4 with 2 RBI for St. Joseph. Boston Bruce, fresh off of helping Johnson County Community College baseball win its first JUCO World Series, hit a solo home run for the Mustangs and finished 1-for-3 with 1 RBI. Carter Belton finished 1-for-2 with 1 RBI.

Graden Hammond pitched 5 innings for the Mustangs and finished with 3 strikeouts and only gave up 3 hits and 1 run.

St. Joseph is back at home on Friday, June 5th hosting the Chillicothe Mudcats at 7 pm at Phil Welch Stadium.
