St. Joseph Mustangs close home stand with win over Carroll

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (KQTV) - The St. Joseph Mustangs baseball team got some redemption over the Carroll Merchants Saturday night, as the team won 11-7. Carroll had beaten St. Joseph 11-9 the previous night.

Carter Belton finished 1-for-4 with 3 RBI for the Mustangs. Lafayette High School alum Jayden Little finished 1-for-4 with 2 RBI and Bishop LeBlond and Northwest Bearcat alum Frank Gall was 2-for-5 with 1 RBI.

Japanese pitcher Haru Takekawa got the start on the mound for St. Joseph, he had 8 strikeouts in 6 innings pitched but also gave up 7 hits and 4 runs on 2 home runs.

The Mustangs improve to 22-14 on the season and have the team's final regular season road game on Monday, July 20th at the Nevada Griffons at 7 pm.
