Benton’s Kyndall Hubbard wins Central Golf Invitational, Maryville wins team title

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (KQTV) - The Central Invitational Girls Golf Tournament was Thursday morning at Moila Country Club in St. Joseph. Eight schools were in attendance.

Benton junior Kyndall Hubbard finished in first place with a score of 86, one stroke ahead of Savannah's Rylee Jones with 87. It was Hubbard's third top 10 finish this season.

"Junior season I definitely feel the difference from sophomore season. I was kind of nervous coming in that like it wasn't going to notice much of a change of my practice over the summer, but I do feel like I have improved," said Hubbard. "I think the biggest thing that I've tried to really work on is just the mental side. I think that's from freshman to sophomore year that's something that I know that I needed to really focus on."

The Maryville High School girls golf team won the team title with a score of 388, 7 strokes ahead of 2nd place Savannah.

"They played so well. I'm just so proud of them. They've worked hard," said Maryville head coach Brenda Ricks. "They really worked hard and I think one of the key things is I don't know if they had any expectations. I think they were just playing the game and I saw a lot of them having fun and that's that's huge."

It was the first win of the season for Maryville as a team.
