MoWest women’s lacrosse falls to #25 Rockhurst at home

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. - Griffon Lacrosse (6-5, 2-1 GLVC) lost to No. 25 Rockhurst, 21-11, on Sunday afternoon at Spratt Stadium in St. Joseph.

The Hawks (10-1, 3-0 GLVC) held MoWest off the board in the first quarter and had an 11-5 lead by halftime. The Griffons couldn't ever close in the second half, as Rockhurst went on a 5-1 run to start the third quarter.

Rockhurst achieved running clock late in the third quarter, and had running clock for the last 12:10 of the game. Rockhurst outshot MWSU 38-22, including 25-14 in shots on goal. MoWest committed 13 turnovers while Rockhurst had only seven.

Clare SondrallCaetryn Gilreath and Brittan Gulick each led the scoring for MoWest with two goals each. Madi Brinkman had four draw controls.

Ava Garaway took the loss in cage. She played the first three quarters, recording seven saves and 17 goals allowed.

MoWest goes on the road this Friday to play McKendree (9-4, 1-2 GLVC). The game will start at 1 p.m. from Leemon Field in Lebanon, Illinois.
